The vineyards curl their way up the hillsides, across the plains, and into every nook and cranny, accompanied by their cortège of almond trees, rosebushes, fig trees and pines. The rivers Orb, Libron and Thongue wend their way through a landscape that could easily pass for the Piedmont region of Italy, with villages scattered here and there like points of reference - often where a Roman villa once stood.
15,000 hectares of vines are cultivated across a wine growing region of 108,000 hectares, producing 2.5 million hectolitres. In the heart of Languedoc-Roussillon, the Béziers vineyards have been the cradle of the region’s wine industry since Roman times. Wine connoisseurs, restaurateurs, wine merchants and foreign customers all appreciate the region's appellations, such as “Terrasses de Béziers”, “Côtes de Thongue” and “Coteaux du Libron”. That's thanks to the work of the wine-growers, which results in high quality wine that offers good value for money.
The béziers vineyards
The Beziers vineyards, in the heart of the oldest French wine producing area, the Languedoc-Roussillon, are dotted with a rich architectural heritage reflected in its range of wines: AOC Coteaux du Languedoc, Terrasses de Béziers and the Vin de Pays from the different domains, where several famous names are produced, such as "Côtes de Thongue" or "Coteaux du Libron", very much in favour with restauranteurs and wine merchants at the moment. The Pays d'Oc IGP (protected geographical indication) is extremely popular for export.
